Christ gave us the answer. He tells us that ALL of God’s Laws can fit under two specific categories of Love.
“‘Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?’ Jesus said to him, ‘You shall LOVE the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.’“ Matthew 22:36-40
God’s Laws are Laws of Love, either 'Love for God' or 'Love for your neighbor'. People don’t often think of Laws being equated to Love, but that’s exactly what they are.
So the question becomes, is Love something that is only for Jews or is it for everyone. Should Jews be the only ones loving God and loving their neighbors, or should everyone else do that too?
The answer suddenly burns brightly. Love was valid before the resurrection, and it is still valid after the resurrection. Therefore, all the Laws of God are still in effect because Love is still in effect.
This is why God, Christ, the prophets and apostles all preached and still preach the Laws of God.
“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.” 1John 5:2-3
'Grace' and 'Obedience to the Laws of God' are not opposing each other, they work together.
“What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!” Romans 6:15
The ‘sin’ Paul is talking about is breaking the Laws of God, the Torah, the Mosaic Laws. All servants of God understand that this is the definition of sin.
“Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.” 1John 3:4
God and His servants will always lead us into obedience because that is leading us into love. Those who think God’s Spirit, the Holy Spirit, would be OK with us breaking any of His Old Testament Laws is mistaken and has probably been misguided by current church doctrines which tell us that the Old Testament Laws are no longer in effect. According to them God is OK with us eating pork or choosing a Sunday Sabbath, etc.
But according to Christ, any of these Laws would fall under either Love for God or Love for your neighbor, and if you are not loving then you are hating. You are hating either God or your neighbor. Disobedience to God's Law is an act of hate. Any church that promotes disobedience to these Laws of Love is preaching hatred.
If you look around at people’s lifestyles and even country policies, you will quickly find that the world has a doctrine of hate. We live in Babylon and Babylon will fall. Now is the time to leave the culture of hate and come back to God and back to Love.
You may not understand the Laws of God but keep in mind that when a child is very young and is told not to touch the stove, the parent has made this rule out of Love. The child doesn't understand why but needs to trust their parent. You need to trust God, trust Christ. Keep His Laws. When the world pushes you hard to touch the stove, don't! Tell them that you don’t need to understand why, you just need to trust and obey because your Parent is 100% right, 100% wise, and is 100% committed to loving you.
I urge you all to learn the Laws of Love and to follow them to the best of your ability despite the constant pressure the world puts on you to stay hateful. Jews or Gentiles, Love is for ALL, and Love is forever.
“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1Corinthians 13:13
